About Infinity Symbols
This collection contains two things that are often treated as one. ∞ and ♾️ mean unboundedness — a quantity without a limit. ⟲ ⟳ ↺ ↻ 🔁 🔂 mean repetition — something returning to its start and running again. They share a visual family and a loose sense of "no end", but a mathematician and a music player mean different things by them.
The Two Infinities
∞ is the mathematical infinity sign, U+221E, and it is a plain text character — monochrome, taking the colour and weight of the text around it, and supported in effectively every font. It is the dependable choice.
♾️ is the same idea as an emoji: a base character followed by a variation selector requesting colour artwork. It reads more strongly at small sizes and will not match a styled name.
The Circle Arrows Are Rotation, Not Infinity
⟲ ⟳ and ↺ ↻ are two pairs of open circle arrows, anticlockwise and clockwise. ↺ and ↻ are the more widely supported pair and are the ones to reach for; ⟲ and ⟳ come from a mathematical range with thinner font coverage.
All four are text characters. Used as a pair they read as refresh or reverse, and a single one reads as a loop — which is close to endlessness but not the same claim. If what you actually want is direction rather than repetition, the arrow symbols cover that properly.
🔁 and 🔂 are emoji, and specifically they are media player controls: repeat-all and repeat-one. Anyone who has used a music app reads them that way rather than as an abstract symbol.
